The Shocking Oscars Snubs That No One Wants To Talk About

The Oscar nominations are out and I couldn't be more excited.

I love this time of year -- when we all have a chance to participate in the conversation about what movie is better than what other movie. I love ALL movies, so it's usually a tough choice for me.

This year, it looks like Joker is a big story. It’s about a Batman villain and people thought it was going to start incel violence, so it has 11 nominations. 1917 is a war movie so it has 10. So do Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood and The Irishman

But there were some extremely serious omissions from this year's nominations. Glaring omissions. Some people call them snubs. Some call them surprises. I call them shocking and offensive.

Here they are:

Performance by an actor in a leading role nominees:

Antonio Banderas: PAIN AND GLORY, Leonardo DiCaprio: ONCE UPON A TIME...IN HOLLYWOOD, Adam Driver: MARRIAGE STORY, Joaquin Phoenix: JOKER, Jonathan Pryce: THE TWO POPES

Some people didn't like that Robert De Niro (The Irishman) didn't make the cut, but really, the biggest snub in this category has to go to James Corden, who has never been more dynamic and magical than he was in his role as Bustopher Jones in Cats. There were times watching him where I thought I was watching an actual cat! That's just what good actors do.

I guess The Academy isn't interested in that.

Performance by an actor in a supporting role nominees:

Tom Hanks: A BEAUTIFUL DAY IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD, Anthony Hopkins: THE TWO POPES, Al Pacino: THE IRISHMAN, Joe Pesci: THE IRISHMAN, Brad Pitt: ONCE UPON A TIME... IN HOLLYWOOD

I have personally spoken to thousands of people who were extremely angry that Sir Ian McKellan was left off this list and they are absolutely justified in their outrage. He didn’t win for The Lord of the Rings or Gods and Monsters -- and now you’re not even going to nominate him even though he was so magnificent as Gus the Theatre Cat in Cats?!

Academy Awards 2020: Here Are All The Oscars Nominees

The nominees for the 92nd Academy Awards have been announced -- and there were more than a few surprises.

Performance by an actress in a leading role nominees:

Cynthia Erivo: HARRIET, Scarlett Johansson: MARRIAGE STORY, Saoirse Ronan: LITTLE WOMEN, Charlize Theron: BOMBSHELL, Renée Zellweger: JUDY

Four words: Jennifer Hudson as Grizabella. SHE HAS THE VOICE OF AN ANGEL!

I am actually surprised The Academy is still standing after snubbing Taylor Swift, who was sublime as Bombalurina in Cats. If ever there was an opportunity to weaponise one's fan base, this would have been it.

Performance by an actress in a supporting role nominees:

Kathy Bates: RICHARD JEWELL, Laura Dern: MARRIAGE STORY, Scarlett Johansson: JOJO RABBIT, Florence Pugh: LITTLE WOMEN, Margot Robbie: BOMBSHELL

So let me get this straight... Dame Judi Dench famously won an Oscar for her eight-minute portrayal of Queen Elizabeth in Shakespeare in Love. Well, her performance as Old Deuteronomy in Cats lasted a lot longer than that -- and she hasn’t even been nominated?!

Is this the height of hypocrisy? I’d say so.

Best animated feature film of the year nominees:

HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON: THE HIDDEN WORLD, I LOST MY BODY, KLAUS, MISSING LINK, TOY STORY 4

Um, I've got another idea for this category: Cats. It’s not a cartoon, necessarily, but you can’t sit there and tell me those cats aren’t animated. They jump around, sing and dance. If that’s not animation, I don’t know what is.

Achievement in cinematography nominees:

Rodrigo PrietoTHE IRISHMAN, Lawrence Sher: JOKER, Jarin Blaschke: THE LIGHTHOUSE, Roger Deakins: 1917, Robert RichardsonONCE UPON A TIME...IN HOLLYWOOD

Where the f*** is Cats?! It's GORGEOUS.

Academy Awards 2020: People Are Pissed Adam Sandler Wasn't Nominated For An Oscar

The 92nd Acadamy Awards nominations dropped last night, and it's safe to say that many aren't impressed with certain snubs.

Achievement in directing nominees:

Martin Scorsese:THE IRISHMAN, Todd Phillips: JOKER, Sam Mendes: 1917, Quentin Tarantino: ONCE UPON A TIME...IN HOLLYWOOD, Bong Joon Ho: PARASITE

Unbelievable. I’d like to see any of these guys get a bunch of A-list celebrities in cat costumes and tell them to bounce around and act like cats -- cats that can sing and dance. Because that's what director Tom Hooper did.

No nomination.

Best documentary feature nominees:

AMERICAN FACTORY, THE CAVE, THE EDGE OF DEMOCRACY, FOR SAMA, HONEYLAND

Cats isn’t technically a documentary, but it’s the truest depiction of cats you’ll ever see. No documentary could capture what it’s like to be a cat as well as this instant classic.

Best documentary short subject nominees:

IN THE ABSENCE, LEARNING TO SKATEBOARD IN A WARZONE (IF YOU’RE A GIRL), LIFE OVERTAKES ME, LOUIS SUPERMAN, WALK RUN CHA-CHA

No one has heard of any of these movies! You know what people have heard of? Cats.

Achievement in film editing nominees:

Michael McCusker and Andrew Buckland: FORD V FERRARI, Thelma Schoonmaker: THE IRISHMAN, Tom Eagles: JOJO RABBIT, Jeff Groth: JOKER, Yang Jinmo: PARASITE

Sorry I’m having a hard time reading through all this rage. Is Cats on this list? No? Then f*** off.

Best international feature film of the year nominees:

CORPUS CHRISTI, HONEYLAND, LES MISÉRABLES, PAIN AND GLORY, PARASITE

Many people have argue that Cats was not produced in another country. But they're wrong. Cats is from Jellicle. It's a different land.

The Oscars Will Again Go Hostless For 2020

For the second consecutive year, the Academy Awards are set to take place without an official host.

Achievement in music written for motion pictures (Original score) nominees:

Hildur Guðnadóttir: JOKER, Alexandre Desplat: LITTLE WOMEN, Randy Newman: MARRIAGE STORY, Thomas Newman: 1917, John Williams STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER

Star Wars? John Williams is just recycling his 1977 score. No. NO.

The score in Cats is the best music ever put to celluloid. Come on!

Achievement in music written for motion pictures (Original song) nominees:

"I Can't Let You Throw Yourself Away": TOY STORY 4, "(I'm Gonna) Love Me Again": ROCKETMAN, "I'm Standing With You": BREAKTHROUGH, "Into The Unknown": FROZEN II, "Stand Up": HARRIET

Oh my God… Cats is a musical! It’s full of songs like "Beautiful Ghosts", The Rum Tum Tugger", "Mr. Mistofelees", "Jellicle Songs For Jellicle Cats" and "Skimbleshanks: The Railway Cat". What is that Frozen II song? Is it “Let It Go”? No? Then it shouldn’t be on this list.

Best motion picture of the year nominees:

FORD V FERRARI, THE IRISHMAN, JOJO RABBIT, JOKER, LITTLE WOMEN, MARRIAGE STORY, 1917, ONCE UPON A TIME...IN HOLLYWOOD, PARASITE

There’s like three hundred movies on this list! You couldn’t squeeze Cats in?!

Achievement in production design nominees:

THE IRISHMAN, JOJO RABBIT, 1917, ONCE UPON A TIME...IN HOLLYWOOD, PARASITE

Cats transported you to a time and place where you could believe that cats could sing and dance. And what did you do? You ignored it. You refused to nominate it for your precious Oscars. Shame! Shame!

Taylor Swift: Snubbed. (Image: Universal Pictures)

Achievement in sound editing nominees:

FORD V FERRARI, JOKER, 1917, ONCE UPON A TIME...IN HOLLYWOOD, STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER

Cats has sound and plenty of it. Thanks for the snub.

'Cats' Is A Cats-Tastrophe, It's A-Paw-Ling, And I Loved It

I can't tell you the exact number of times I've seen 'Cats', but it is too many.

Adapted screenplay nominees:

Steven Zaillian: THE IRISHMAN, Taika Waititi: JOJO RABBIT, Todd Phillips & Scott Silver: JOKER, Greta Gerwig: LITTLE WOMEN, Anthony McCarten: THE TWO POPES

Cats features some of the best writing any of us has ever heard. Lines like "Here we go ha ha" and "Come, we're about to begin"? They didn’t write themselves.

These snubs... sorry, crimes... they will not stand. History will not look kindly upon you, The Academy!

See you on the red carpet!
