Cheap Airline Tickets Are Flying In
Virgin Australia is offering cheap flights to combat a slump in travel
Virgin Australia has cut more flights, reduced executives' fees, and will seek relief from government charges as it joins rivals in attempting to soften the impact of the COVID-19 spread.
To further ease the negative impacts on the airline, Virgin Australia has decided to offer some super cheap deals to encourage people to fly. Most domestic airfares will be under $100, with the deal ending at midnight on March 23rd.
You can fly from Melbourne to Sydney for just $99, or Sydney to the Gold Coast for $89. Or if you’re hoping to distance yourself from other travellers during this virus season, Virgin is also offering business class airfares for as little as $250.
Virgin had already announced last month it was slashing its Tigerair fleet and cutting back on flights to rein in costs as the coronavirus cruels demand for leisure destinations and its budget airline's routes.
It tipped an earnings hit of between $50 million and $75 million in the second half but has now suspended this guidance.
As for the cheap flight deals, it comes a day after it was announced that all Virgin flights will be taking an extra hygiene step, using a new “cleaning innovation” that will kill bacteria for a period of 48-hours.
If there’s any company we can trust, it’s Virgin, because Virgin is usually a word not associated with catching diseases.
