Statement From The National Disability Insurance Agency
An NDIA spokesperson provided the following statement in response to questions about funding for intensive therapy for Max Sherman and other children with disabilities.
NDIS participants receive an individually-tailored plan. The level of supports included is based on the participant’s disability-related needs and their personal goals. There is no set limit to the number of therapy hours any NDIS participant, including children with cerebral palsy, receives in their plan.
Funding for specific therapy services needs to be evidence-based, best-practice and likely to assist the participant to live an independent life and participate in their community.
The NDIA continues to work with researchers to ensure best practice in development of policies and tailored supports for NDIS participants.
