Whale Dolphin Hybrid Discovered Off The Coast Of Hawaii

Potential Aqua Man Viral Campaign Not Yet Ruled Out

We all know the Tiger Lion hybrid the Liger, or the Zebra Horse hybrid: the Zorse and of course the ill-fated Human Chimpanzee hybrid; the humanzee.

Well now get ready for the latest animal combo: the Wholphin, half whale, half dolphin, all cute freakish creature.

Researchers spotted this marine mammalian mash-up in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Hawaii. Marine Biologist from the Cascadia Research Collective Robin Baird said “We had the photos and suspected it was a hybrid from morphological characteristics intermediate between species. We were able to get a biopsy sample of the animal" as reported by

Described as having the fins of a dolphin but the body and head of a whale. The Wholphin is a rare find in the wild and can only be produced by the mating of a female bottle nosed dolphin and a male killer whale. Wholphins have also been conceived in captivity with the last one at Sea Life Park in Hawaii.

A bit of light googling reveals dozens of these animal fusions. You’ve got your Cama, your Leopon, your Pizzly, your beefalo. Who knows what nature will come up with next and if it can ever be stopped?
