"Mr Hazem Hamouda is an Egyptian citizen who was arrested upon his arrival in Cairo on 25 January 2018.
Mr Hamouda has been charged with membership of a terrorist organisation, including in relation to his active role in the group's propaganda and media which often promotes violence and incitement of sectarianism.
As Mr Hamouda is also an Australian national, the Australian Embassy in Cairo has been following the legal procedures and Mr Hamouda's case.
Mr Hamouda also has a lawyer who is representing him against the charges he faces.
