The Two Biggest Makeup Trends For Spring Racing 2019, According To An Expert

We spoke to Network 10's Wardrobe Hair & Makeup Senior Operator Renee Wanna who gave us her top makeup predictions.

With spring racing almost upon us, Renee Wanna has been busy researching and analysing red carpets in order to get some ideas for what makeup looks when can expect to see trackside. And she thinks two looks will dominate.

"There's two extremes: There's that bright poppy lip with a nude eye, but there's also the extreme of a really natural [look]," she told 10 daily.

Renee said she's noticing A-listers and celebs are opting for more of a "wash of shadow" with bold eyeliners seemingly to be less popular.

"[Try] soft pinks on the eyes. And a wash of bronze is always a big one," she said, adding that this makeup look is "definitely understated and minimal".

Renee explained this spring racing season, the focus is on "beautiful glowy skin" that's accentuated by a bright lip with "barely anything on the eye."

And brows are becoming a trend themselves, too. "Brushed up brows for that nice feathery look," she said.

The makeup is just really pretty and subtle and really compliments a black and white polka dot.

It's a less-is-more approach this season, with Renee adding she's noticing a decline in the once super popular smokey eye look for the track.

"I think that's out," she said, adding that with the wave of natural looks, we will also likely see contouring settling down, too.

"You can [tone] your contouring down a little bit. A bit of shaping is fine but it's going to settle down, I think," Renee told 10 daily.
