Melbourne Cup Day Weather Forecast Is Cool And Mostly Sunny
At last, a little sunshine!
On Melbourne Cup Day 2019, racegoers might just stay dry, with mild temperatures and mostly dry skies.
It was freezing on Caulfield Cup Day and miserable on Cox Plate Day and the forecast for Derby Day this Saturday looks like rain.
But the forecast for next Tuesday, November 5, calls for just a 10 percent chance of rain. So any light showers that do fall shouldn't stick around for long.
Derby Day is a different story. It looks wet. Follow-up showers are also forecast on Sunday, This is good news for the Flemington track, as a decent soaking followed by a drying day or two should create a perfect racing surface on which all horses can win.
So if you're lucky enough to be heading to Flemington, and if you'll be wearing something on Derby Day that shrinks when wet and you're planning to double down with the same outfit at the Cup, maybe it's time to rethink.
If you're attending Melbourne Cup functions or local race meetings around the country, the early capital city forecasts for Tuesday are as follows:
Sydney: 21, possible shower
Brisbane: 28, chance of showers
Adelaide: 22, mostly sunny
Perth: 25, mostly sunny
Canberra: 22, partly cloudy
Darwin: 32, possible storm
Hobart: 19, shower or two
