Strap In, Lover! Taylor Swift To Sing At Melbourne Cup Carnival
Horses, you're going to have to shake it off for a few minutes on Lexus Melbourne Cup Day this year.
Taylor Swift is going to sing at the Melbourne Cup Carnival.
We repeat: Taylor Swift will sing on Lexus Melbourne Cup Day.
The music megastar will perform two songs from her latest album 'Lover' at Flemington Racecourse on November 5 in the Mounting Yard before the big race.
It means that anyone who is on the racecourse that day will be able to see her in person, and of course, you'll be able to catch her right here on Network 10, the broadcaster of the 2019 Melbourne Cup Carnival Carnival.
'Lover' has climbed the charts to become Australia's highest-selling album for 2019 and has already reached over a billion streams in Oz.
Taylor's Cup performance will be her only public appearance in Australia this year -- but can be seen by everyone with a general admission ticket at Flemington and will be broadcast in full.
VRC Chief Executive Officer Neil Wilson said it was "only fitting the VRC welcomes the world's most celebrated star for the event".
“To think you can come to Flemington and watch not only the race that stops a nation but see one of the world’s biggest, if not the biggest, entertainer perform for the cost of a general admission ticket is phenomenal," Wilson said in a statement.
"We look forward to welcoming Taylor Swift to our wonderful event in just under 54 days.”
The Herald Sun first reported that the deal to get Swift out here was sealed by promoter Michael Gudinski.
Gudinski is a huge figure in the Australian music industry, who founded iconic record label Mushroom Records in 1972. He is also a keen racing person who has co-owned two Melbourne Cup winners in the past few years -- Almandin in 2016 and Rekindling in 2017.
Regardless of whether a horse he owns wins the Cup this year, he's already had a huge win getting Swift across the finish line.
