WATCH: Couple Captures Incredible Moment Fire Twister Rips Through Farm
A travelling couple has captured an incredible fire twister on video, as parts of Western Australia continue to be ravaged by bushfires.
Visiting tourists Jeff and Maddy Wilson, from Texas in the U.S., are blogging their trip around Australia and are currently working as sheep farmers in Western Australia’s Wheatbelt region.
The couple were in Gillingarra, 150kms north of Perth, when bushfires hit the area over the weekend.
They managed to capture the fierce fire twister as they filmed from their car on Tuesday.
“We’re working on a farm in the Wheatbelt of WA and a big fire broke out nearby on Sunday,” the pair posted on Instagram.
“We don’t have any training, but the situation got pretty urgent as the fire was moving quickly towards the farm. We jumped in, promised each other we’d be careful, and just tried our best to help where it was needed.
“We’re so impressed by everyone in this community -- all volunteers -- who put the lives on the line and scarified precious water, fuel, time, and Christmas holidays to help each other out when they needed it most.”
The fire is now under control in the area, but several bushfire emergency warnings remain in place for WA.
