Pug Puppy Coco Allegedly Killed In Bungled Perth Burglary
A man who allegedly broke into a Perth family’s home and killed their puppy named Coco by throwing her over a fence has been charged with animal cruelty.
Police allege Lloyd Todd Wood, 29, broke into Nebojsa and Tahnee Vuksan's home in Spearwood about 3.30am on Saturday while the couple were away in Sydney.
A family member had been house sitting and was asleep when Wood allegedly forced his way in.
Police allege Wood tossed the eight-month-old pug over a fence and left her to die as he ransacked the home and stole personal belongings. The puppy was later found dead by a neighbour.
In a statement, Coco's owners said they are heartbroken and still coming to terms with their loss.
“We are still absolutely heartbroken, our house is empty and we just miss her so much.
“We'd like to thank everyone from Fremantle police, the community, the media, our neighbours and anyone else.”
Wood applied for bail at Fremantle Magistrates Court on Thursday, but the judge advised him to seek legal advice and remanded him in custody.
The court also heard Wood was on bail for three other offences when the alleged burglary occurred.
