One Dead, Multiple People Shot On Streets Of Washington, D.C.
Gunfire has erupted on the streets of Washington, D.C., on Thursday night, not far from the White House.
At least one person is dead, and five others have been injured in a shooting in an apartment building courtyard on Columbia Road, police confirmed.
Emergency services responded to reports of gunfire at about 10pm local time on Thursday.
Six people were found with gunshot wounds, with one of those people pronounced dead at the scene.
The other five injured people have been taken to hospitals with injuries ranging from critical to non-critical, D.C Police Department Commander Stuart Emerman confirmed.
Police have not apprehended a suspect as of late Thursday and do not know the motive for the shooting, but it is not an active shooting situation.
“Detectives are interviewing witnesses and looking for camera footage,” Emerman said.
