Watch: The World's Largest Hula Hoop Spin

Those who can hula hoop know it’s easier the bigger and heavier the hoop is -- that is until it reaches the size that smashes a world record.

A hula hoop with a whopping 5.18-metre diameter is enough to send the mind spinning but it’s also the largest in the world to be spun by a female.

Hula Hoop instructor, Getti Kehayova, broke the record in Las Vegas on Friday.

Despite wearing a protective vest, Kehayova sustained minor bruising from the weight of the hoop.

"It was quite painful because the hula hoop is pretty heavy, so every time that revolution and spin comes around and it touches every part of your body, it kind of feels like a punch up against your body,” she told the Guinness World Records.

With many wondering how to spin a hula hoop or at least stop it from falling to the ground, she will be the envy of many.

The over-sized hoop was required to make three full rotations without touching the ground to take the record from Japan’s Yuya Yamada.

Growing up in the circus with her family, Kehayova has arguably been training for the record attempt her whole life.

She even had a hula-hoop act in partnership with her sister and travelled the world as an acrobat.

The title sees Kehayova appear alongside her family in the world record books, with her father holding the title for the 7-man high perch pyramid act and her older sister holding the most hula hoops spun.
