Australian Tourist Dies In Grand Canyon
A Tasmanian man has died while visiting the Grand Canyon.
Kenneth Reece, 77, was swimming near the Deer Creek Falls in the Colorado River while on a river trip on September 3.
Grand Canyon National Park Rangers responded to emergency reports after Reece was pulled from the water by other trip members at River Mile 136.
Rangers took over resuscitation attempted from on-scene personnel, but were unable to save him, Grand Canyon National Park said in a statement.
His body was retrieved by the rescue team's helicopter and taken to the Coconino County Medical Examiner.
Park rangers and the Coconino County Medical Examiner Office are cooperating in an investigation into his death.
It is not known how Reece became submerged in the water.
