Kate And Meghan Watch Wimbledon Final Amid Rift Rumours
Duchess of Sussex Meghan has cheered on Serena Williams with sister-in-law Kate by her side at the women's singles final at Wimbledon.
The duchesses smiled and chatted with Kate's sister Pippa Matthews as they watched the action on Centre Court from the front row of the royal box on Saturday.
Prince William and Prince Harry were not with them. The duchesses' outing follows speculation of a rift between the royal couples.
After Williams crumbled to a straight sets defeat, Kate and Meghan joined the crowd in a standing ovation for new champion Simona Halep.
Kate was seen congratulating the Romanian on her win as she came off court.
Serena Williams and Meghan have grown close in recent years, with the 23-time grand slam champion attending the duchess's wedding in May last year.
"Just having her in general as a friend is great. She's such a great friend and a great person as well," Williams said of Meghan after the final.
"Always positive no matter what. It's so good to have people like that just to know. She's such a fan of the sport.
"She, too, was happy for Simona. She saw she played unbelievable. That's just the kind of person she is."
The two duchesses arrived separately to Wimbledon, with Kate first meeting some female junior players in her role as patron of the All England Lawn and Tennis Club.
British Prime Minister Theresa May was among the famous faces watching the action with the duchesses in the royal box.
Meghan, currently on maternity leave, and Kate also watched the Wimbledon women's final in 2018, which Serena also lost in straight sets.
