Police found the children without the adult who was driving the car and they were not wearing seatbelts.

"The driver's kids were in the back with no seatbelts on. He made off on foot because he’d been drinking leaving them behind. Sickening," Collett Tweeted with an image of the crash scene.

It's unclear if the children or anyone else was injured during the crash.

Metropolitan Police told 10 daily in a statement that the department has not been informed of any children being left in the car.

"We have not been informed children were left behind," the statement obtained by 10 daily said.

Met Police confirmed to 10 daily on Friday morning London time that the man has been charged with no insurance, failing to stop at the scene of an accident and failing to ensure his children had their seat belts on.
