Student Scams Free KFC For A Year, Gets Arrested

A student has managed to scam his way into free KFC for an entire year by claiming he was a food quality inspector from head office.

The South African man, 27, would often arrive at a store in a limo, wearing a suit and flashing an ID card that read 'head office', claiming he needed to check the chicken was up to scratch.

He visited a number of different stores across South Africa, using the exact same story to claim more free meals than you've probably had in your lifetime.

A staff member at one of the targetted KFC's told Xpouzar that he played the part well.

"When he arrived we would all try to act our best so that we didn't piss off the man from head office - he was so convincing because he was so confident, and even colleagues from other branches of KFC know him," the worker said.

"When he came in, he rushed to the kitchen and checked everything, taking notes and then asked for samples of whatever he wanted," they continue.

Journalist Teddy Eugene alerted the world to the situation via Twitter.

How much free dirty bird the courageous scammer consumed over the 12 months remains a mystery, but the meal number is tipped to be well into the hundreds.

The limo, by the way, was driven by a mate of his who worked for a limousine hire company part-time.

Unfortunately, their plan wasn't as flawless as first thought, the chicken checker has now been arrested.

Despite the run-in with the law, the student's extravagant year has left the internet gobsmacked, with many Twitter users labelling him a deadset legend.
