Female MMA Fighter Punches Man Allegedly Masturbating At Her Beach Photoshoot

A female MMA fighter on a beach photoshoot has taken matters into her own hands when she punched a man who was allegedly masturbating nearby.

Brazilian mixed martial artist Joyce Vieira, 27, was posing for the swimsuit shoot on Praia do Braga beach in Rio de Janeiro earlier this month when she noticed a nearby man was watching her while touching his exposed genitals.

"When I looked over there he had his shorts down and was standing on a path where people pass all the time, including children," she told Brazilian paper Folha de São Paulo.

"He was visibly erect, making sounds and moaning," she added.

Vieira, who was with a friend at the time, decided to approach the shirtless man and ask him to stop.

She says he refused and replied, "Why, you don't like it? Come here."

"It was very surreal," she told Folha. "Generally, people who are caught doing this always deny it, 'No, no, no.' He didn't. He continued."

Photos of the incident show Vieira -- a specialist in Muay Thai and Jiu-Jitsu --punching and kicking the man.

The man reportedly punched her back, "But the punch made me even angrier. I wanted to kill him," Vieira said.

At that point, the man "started screaming" and fled the scene. After the encounter, Vieira filed a police report and the man was arrested for committing an 'obscene act'.

He has since been released from police custody and has denied the allegations. He claims he was urinating, not masturbating at the time.

After his release, Vieira told local media that she feels "powerless," according to the New York Post.

"It's very strange because he's going to be in the same city as me, and who knows he might be in the same places."

"That's why I have received an innumerable number of messages from women saying that [in similar situations] they didn't file a report, because they know the suspects would end up being released. I think the punishment for these cases should be more severe."

According to Brazilian media, the case is ongoing and will be taken to the Public Ministry.
