Woman's 'Disgusting' Find After Biting Into Dinner

When Michela Emma decided to quit plastic she knew it would be difficult. What she didn't expect was that she would be eating it for dinner.

Michela and her partner bought themselves a piece of Alaskan salmon for dinner on Saturday evening. They prepared the fish, cooked it and sat down to a nice weekend meal, only to be "disgusted" by what they were to find inside the fish.

"...I bit into it and guess what I found? A shrivelled up, piece of what looks like a plastic bag the length of my finger," Michela Emma, 24, wrote on Facebook.

"I've never been more disgusted in my life. I am not over exaggerating when I say that either."

Michela, who lives in West Hollywood,  continues by urging her Facebook followers to consider making changes towards a plastic-free lifestyle.

"Plastic is everywhere, we're consuming it and in turn killing ourselves and the planet," she wrote.

"I really urge you to consider making some changes in your day to day life and you to [sic] urge your favourite brands to find more environmentally friendly packaging."

Michela's discovery comes as a dead whale with 40 kilograms of plastic washed up in the Philippines on Monday.

Experts say the whale died of dehydration and starvation after consuming the huge amount of plastic.  Rice sacks, grocery bags, banana plantation bags and general plastic bags were found in the stomach of the whale.
