Mike Pence Compares Donald Trump To Martin Luther King Jr.

U.S. Vice President Mike Pence has compared President Donald Trump to legendary equality advocate Martin Luther King, and the internet is struggling to deal with it.

President Trump has been under fire recently thanks to his much-maligned partial government shutdown.

The shutdown started on the 22nd of December when the President was denied additional funding to help build the border wall between the U.S. and Mexico.

U.S. Vice President Mike Pence has stepped in to defend his boss but has instead only kicked the already angry hornet's nest.

Speaking on CBS program, Face The Nation on the eve of Martin Luther King day, he compared the president who is currently fighting to keep Mexican migrants out of the country to one of the greatest advocates for racial equality in history.

"He (Martin Luther King) inspired us to change through the legislative process to become a more perfect union, that's exactly what President Trump is trying to do, come to the table in a spirit of good faith, we'll secure our border, we'll re-open the government," said Pence.

Needless to say, the social media reaction to the comparison has not exactly been complimentary of Pence or the President.

With no signs the month-long shut down is coming to an end, Americans will likely be hoping they can celebrate Martin Luther King day with an open government.
