'I Know Crazy Right': Seal Uses Octopus To Slap Kayaker In The Face
Nature is at it again, providing the goods.
Adventurer Kyle Mulinder was out catching waves at a place called Kaikoura in New Zealand's South Island known for its abundant wildlife and whale populations.
Mulinder was generally minding his own business when he spotted a massive seal fighting an octopus just below the surface of the water. While the reason for the altercation is unknown, we do know that seals in the area feed primarily on squid and other seafood -- so maybe this particular seal was looking to stun or kill its tucker before eating it.
Before he knew it, Mulinder became part of the brawl, even if it was for a brief moment. He was slapped clean in the face by the octopus who was wielded by the seal.
"I know crazy right," Mulinder wrote on Instagram.
"I’m not sure who got more of a surprise the seal, the octopus or me."

The octopus hung around a little, gripping to the bottom of Mulinder's kayak to stay out of reach of the seal who disappeared fairly quickly after the slap. After being eased off the boat, the octopus swam away too.
