Londoners Are Trying To Find This Refugee Rocket Scientist A Job
Londoners are offering job advice, coffee, and even a friendly connection.
Londoners are banding together to try and help a former child refugee with a degree in rocket science find a job.
The plight of Mohamed, a former refugee who arrived in the UK as a child, came to light when an employee of the International Rescue Committee snapped a pic of him in the London financial district of Canary Wharf.
"I met Mohamed coming out of the tube at Canary Wharf this morning," wrote Mary Engleheart on Twitter.
"He came to the UK as a child refugee and has two degrees in space engineering. He's looking for a job in finance."
Dressed in a smart grey suit, Mohammed holds up a sign.
"Came as a refugee, just graduated from UCL [University College London] in rocket science," it reads.
"Looking for a career in finance. Ask for CV."
Mary's tweet has been shared more than 8,000 times. People are now offering career advice, coffees, and kind wishes. Barclays bank has even reached out, asking him to apply for a job via its career page.
Mary said she's "overwhelmed" by the response to her tweet, and shared Mohamed's email -- with permission, of course -- for any potential recruitment opportunities.
Ten daily has reached out to both Mohamed and Mary for comment.
