Police Name Toronto Shooting Suspect
His family say he had a long history of mental illness.
The gunman who allegedly shot two people dead in Toronto and injured 13 others has been identified at Faisal Hussain.
The 29-year-old opened fire in city's Riverdale neighbourhood around 10pm on Sunday night local time. The area is lined with restaurants and Hussain walked down the busy Danforth Avenue firing.
An 18-year-old woman, who has been identified as university student Reese Fallon, and a 10-year-old girl were killed in the attack.
The gunman was also found dead following the shooting.
Police chief Mark Saunders said police had engaged in a gunfight with Hussain and he said police are continuing their investigation into the motive behind the attack.
"I'm keeping everything open. I'm looking at absolutely every possible motive for this," Saunders told the media.
"I'm not calling it random."
The shooting occurred in the city's Greektown area. Heavy police presence could be seen in the area in the hours following the incident.
