Three Dead, 13 Injured In Toronto Mass Shooting
Police say the shooter has been killed.
UPDATE: Toronto Police have confirmed a second victim has died from their injuries, bringing the death toll to three, including the shooter.
The shooter is reported to have a been a 29-year-old male, but no identity has been released yet.
Another woman was also killed and more than a dozen others have been injured in a mass shooting in Toronto.
Police responded to reports of an incident in the city's Riverdale neighbourhood around 10pm Sunday night (local time). Toronto police initially advised nine victims had been shot, with the shooter killed.
Later, police chief Mark Saunders updated media that 15 people had been shot, including the shooter. Saunders said one "young lady" was dead, while a nine-year-old girl was in critical condition in hospital.
Saunders said police had engaged in a gunfight with the shooter -- who was armed with a handgun -- and while he did not comment on the possible motivations for the shooting, he did not rule out terrorism.
"Right now it's important we don't speculate," he said.
"I'm keeping everything open. I'm looking at absolutely every possible motive for this."
"I'm not calling it random."
A reporter from news service Global News Toronto tweeted "victims are spread across many blocks".
Photos from the scene showed a heavy police presence and people being loaded into ambulances.
The incident occurred in the city's Greektown district, near Danforth and Pape avenues.
More to come.
