Police Officer Piggybacks Elderly Man Across Traffic

CCTV footage of the incident was shared on social networking site Weibo.

Footage has emerged of a heart-warming scene in China, when a police officer piggybacked an elderly man across six lanes of traffic.

CCTV footage of the scene, from a busy crossing in the city of Mianyang in China's Sichuan province, shows the man slowly crossing the road with his walking sticks as cars bank up.

Traffic police officer Qin Weijie spotted the man and offered to help him across the road, hoisting him up on his back and piggybacking him the rest of the way.

Footage of the moment was shared on Chinese social networking site Weibo by the local traffic police brigade.

"At the time, the traffic was very heavy and [the man] had to go too fast and he was afraid that he was uncomfortable," it quoted Weijie as saying.

Weibo users were warmed by the moment.

"Thank you for your kind actions," said one person.

"Warm heart, give the [police officer] praise," said another.

"Mianyan police are the best!" said a third. "The officer is so nice to help out the elderly."
