'Such Joy And Love': Sally Pearson Announces She's Pregnant With First Child

Aussie Olympic champion Sally Pearson has announced she and her husband Kieran are expecting their first child and joked their firstborn would arrive just in time for the Olympics.

The couple shared their exciting announcement on Instagram on Tuesday morning with a photo of their first sonogram.

In an adorable twist, Pearson also posed on an athletic track next to her pair of runners and a tiny pair of baby shoes.

"To start the next chapter of our lives with such joy and love is more than we could’ve ever hoped for," Pearson said.

"We are looking forward to meeting our little one in July this year, just before the Tokyo Olympics start!!"

"Gotta start them young," she joked.

Pearson, who was the 2011 and 2017 world champion and 2020 Olympic Champion in the 100-metre hurdles, retired from competing in August 2019.

Hurdles Champ Sally Pearson's Shock Retirement Announcement

She jumped before she was pushed. As you'd expect a hurdler to do.

The shock announcement came less than a year out from the 2020 Olympics following a string of injuries.

At the time she said starting a family would likely be the next step for her and her partner.
