Fans Rage At NRL’s Dally M Twitter Spoilers

People are MAD.

The Dally M Awards were in Sydney on Wednesday, but rugby league's night of nights has been spoiled for many people by the NRL's over-keen social media staff.

Those who were monitoring the night on Twitter were in for a nasty shock when the official NRL Twitter began announcing the results before the official broadcast did.

The winners for 'Coach of the Year' and 'Captain of the Year' were tweeted out nearly 20 minutes before they were announced at the official ceremony. In fact, the broadcast even threw to an advert with the promise of the big reveal afterwards.

This was tweeted at 8.54pm but not officially announced at 9.09pm. Image: NRL Twitter

The NRL deleted the offending the tweets about five minutes later, but the damage was already done.

Fans were NOT HAPPY at the error that had ruined their viewing experience of the live broadcast.

When Craig Bellamy and Cameron Smith were officially announced as the winners, people were quick to point out they had already heard that before.

You can follow the Dally M winners here. We're doing it as they're announced, and not before.

The NRL has been contacted for comment.
