Jofra Archer Mocks Steve Smith As Aussies Make Three Changes
Disrespectful or just having a laugh?
There are two ways you could view England paceman Jofra Archer's little show in the nets ahead of Thursday night's third Ashes Test at Headingley.
Archer did a pretty good impression of Steve Smith's quirks at the batting crease, which you can watch in the video at the top of this story. The impression contained all the twitches, fiddles, and extravagant bat waves after leaving the ball, for which Smith is famous.
Hey, you've got to give him marks for accuracy.
But just a few days after the 24-year-old Barbados-born Englishman felled Smith with a bouncer at Lord's, leaving him with concussion, the question had to be asked whether any sort of mocking was appropriate.
Most people said nah.
In fact, we struggled to find anyone on social media who thought it was funny. We did, however, find one guy who posted a pork chop in response because mmmmmmm... pork chops.
Meanwhile, Australia looks certain to make three changes for the third Test which starts at 8pm tonight, AEST.
Marnus Labuschagne will be confirmed as Smith's replacement in the batting order, and Australia's bowling rotation policy looks set to continue with James Pattinson taking the place of Peter Siddle.
But the big news is Cameron Bancroft appears certain to make way for Marcus Harris. The opener who was one of the banned ball-tampering trio has looked anything but assured since returning to the Aussie team.
