The Players' Menu At Lord's Is As Posh As You Would Expect
Ahh Lord's, you've done it again.
Day one of the second Ashes Test was delayed because of rain, but we have a feeling the players probably aren't too worried.
Lord's Cricket Ground is not just the Home of Cricket, it is also the Home of the Feast, because the chaps from Marylebone Cricket Club put on a decent spread.
Sorry Warnie, there's not a meat pie to be seen.
To start their meal, there's a red pepper (capsicum for those Down Under), sweet potato and paprika soup.
Then we move on to the good stuff.
The Australian and English teams have the choice of:
- roasted lamb rack
- steam halibut fillets
- chicken, rabbit and seafood paella
- mushroom and lentil bolognese
And of course these main meals come with a selection of sides:
- prawns in Marie Rose sauce
- basmati rice
- mashed potatoes
- french beans, artichokes and olives
- farro salad with dried fruit and nuts.
Because it's England, a traditional bread and butter pudding is on offer for dessert.
Or for something a little more rich, a dark chocolate torte.
But of course, these are professional athletes, so a fresh fruit salad is also on offer.
After that feast, we don't know how they can play any sport.
