Wimbledon Chaos After Sprinkler Accidentally Turns On During Match

It's warm and sunny at Wimbledon, but this rogue water sprinkler went a bit too far, drenching competitors during a doubles match.

Mixed doubles pairing Laura Siegemund and Artem Sitak were cooling off during a break in their match against Ken Skupski and Darija Jurak on Friday, when they got more than they bargained for.

A water sprinkler suddenly sprang into life as they took a quiet breather, soaking the pair and match officials.

Siegemund quickly got up and moved her gear away from the spray, but Sitak looked less fazed by the unexpected interruption on the court. Spectators shielded themselves as the water went everywhere, and Sitak eventually took action as the jet spray suddenly came directly at him.

A suit-clad official stomped his foot down on the errant sprinkler, seemingly ending the sudden chaos, with onlookers grinning and re-organising the knocked-over bins and chairs... but suddenly the sprinkler sprang into life again, with a renewed zest, again sending the competitors scrambling.

So much water was spewed out that the entire match had to be moved to another court -- where the soggy pairing of Siegemund and Sitak eventually prevailed 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.
