This Shocking Football Miss Is So Bad It Defies Physics

We've all stuffed up. But it's doubtful any of us have ever stuffed up quite this spectacularly.

Seriously, it absolutely boggles the mind that this happened.

Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting is a German footballer of Cameroonian heritage who plays for one of Europe's top clubs, Paris St Germain, in the French league.

But in a match against Strasbourg overnight, he appears to have forgotten about the "playing" part.

Let us savour the magnificent incompetence of the moment when Choupo-Moting turned a certain goal into sheer comedy. First of all, the ball would have gone in had he just left it alone.

But he didn't. He went for the tap-in. And that's where the impossible became possible.

He actually tapped the ball backwards, which is an incredibly hard thing to do when both you and the ball and travelling towards goal.

The ball then hit the post, bounced backwards, and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting became a meme symbolising sheer terribleness at the thing you're supposed to be good at.

OK, so that last bit hasn't happened yet, but it surely will.

Before this incident, the last word in point-blank ineptitude was former Chelsea man Alvaro Morata. Ugh.

But this was actually worse.

Oh, and for the record, the match finished 2-2, so PSG could have used the goal, even though they are runaway leaders in the French league.

Hmmm, maybe if Choupo-Moting stopped doing this with his foot, he'd kick straight for once. Aurelien Meunier - PSG/PSG via Getty Images.
