Five Teams That REALLY Need A Win This Weekend

These miserable mobs have got some work to do.

Every team could use a win every week, that's a given. But these are the outfits that need it more than most.

The big story of the week has been how the Demons allegedly "tanked" -- deliberately losing a bunch of games in 2009.

That's pretty funny when you consider they're definitely trying this year, yet they've looked even worse than the Demons of a decade ago!

EVERYONE tipped them to make the eight in 2019, with many saying they were a good chance for the flag. If they don't beat lowly Essendon tonight in a match which really should be billed as the Bombers vs the tanks, forget it.

Is coach Paul Green feeling the pressure of his first season without Johnathan Thurston?

Naaaaaaah. As in yes, definitely.

Such is the scrutiny, he's reaching for imaginary spiders in his shirt. The 1-2 Cowboys play the 2-1 Raiders at home on Saturday evening, and desperately need to grab the Viking visitors by the horns.

Paul Green will be hoping he repels the Green Machine.

The Sydney-based Super Rugby franchise is 3-3 in the Australian conference, and can definitely still make the finals. But their run has to start now.

Two weeks ago, they beat the table-topping Canterbury Crusaders. Then last week they lost to Japanese team the Sunwolves, in an absolute howler of a performance at home.

Wolves, howlers... sorry, it's Friday. We'll go home in a sec, promise. Anyway, the Waratahs need to beat the 3-3 Blues in Auckland or they might as well scatter their petals now.

The Swans have had shocking season starts and still made finals before. They lost their first six game sin 2017 yet recovered to finish 6th with a 14-8 record.

This year they're 2-0. But the season has a bad smell. They look a little understaffed in several key areas. And if they can't beat Carlton this Saturday arvo, we declare them dead ducks.

It's been all reigning Supercars series champ Scott McLaughlin and the Ford Mustangs so far in 2019.

But let's be honest, Supercars are always at their most exciting when there's a bit of Holden vs Ford action. One of the nine Holden teams really needs to step up at Symmons Plains in this weekend's round (highlights from 4 pm on Network 10).

For Holden fans, your best best is surely Jamie Whincup, who has won an incredible 10 of the last 12 races at the tight Tassie track.
