Kid Totally Smashes It As He Names 'Daniel Avocado' His Favourite Driver
This little pipsqueak just claimed guacamole position on the grid.
10 News First reporter Annie Kearney was asking locals about their favourite drivers ahead of this weekend's Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix in Melbourne.
One kid's response?
"Daniel Avocado" -- who may or may not be a close relation of Daniel Ricciardo, the Aussie driver who changed cockpit this year from Red Bull to Renault.
The official F1 social media team picked up on this adorable misnomer, shared it with fans, and suggested that Daniel Avocado might be lining up on the grid alongside "Kiwi" Raikkonen.
Fans came to the party, replacing their favourite drivers' names with food terms. And for five minutes or so, the internet was a happy, laughing place instead of its usual angry place.
If you don't know your F1 drivers, this one is a reference to McLaren driver Lando Norris.
And this was in reference to Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc, whose surname is pronounced more like "Leclair" than "Leclirk".
And let's not forget fellow Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel, who shall henceforth be known as Sebastian "Pretzel".
And guess what? Our man Dan says it's happened before. Ha!
The 2019 Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix will be screened live and free on Network 10 from Friday, 15 March to Sunday, 17 March, and streamed live on 10 play.
Australia’s most experienced Formula One driver, Mark Webber, joins the team again this year to offer his expert opinion and commentate all F1 sessions as well as qualifying and the big race.
Mark joins 10 Sport’s Matt White and Roz Kelly, former F1 World Champion Alan Jones, on set with Tom Clarkson, Scott Mackinnon and Kate Peck to bring fans all the news from inside the F1 Paddock.
