Football Great Maradona Confirms He's Father To Three More Children
Football legend Diego Maradona has acknowledged he is the father of three children living in Cuba.
The 58-year-old's lawyer confirmed he's now the father of eight children, after accepting the paternity of three more.
Maradona will travel to Cuba's capital Havana later this year to take paternity tests to confirm his biological link to the children. During this visit, Maradona is also expected to publicly acknowledge the children as his own.
The children, who are reportedly from two different mothers, will also be able to take his surname.
Maradona spent extended periods of time in Cuba between 2000 and 2005, where he was receiving treatment for cocaine addiction.
Before 2016, Maradona constantly denied he had children outside his marriage. He claimed he was father only to Giannina, 29, and Dalma, 31, both daughters of his ex-wife Claudia Villafañe, who he divorced in 2003.
In 2016 he recognised Diego Junior, 32, and Jana, 22, after court battles with their mothers.
He's also the father of six-year-old Diego Fernando from his relationship with Veronica Ojeda.
Maradona is regarded as one of the best football players of all time. He was the first player in history to set the world record for the player transfer fee, twice.
During his international career for Argentina he scored 34 goals and played in four FIFA World Cups.
He is currently the coach of Mexico football club Dorados.
