All The Pinkest People On Jane McGrath Day At The Sydney Test
It's "Pink Test" day at the SCG today, and Australians have again dressed up and donated in droves.
For 11 years now, the third day of the Sydney Test has honoured the life and work of Jane McGrath -- late wife of cricketing great Glenn McGrath -- who who died in 2008.
The McGrath Foundation is a breast cancer support and education program. Its primary goal is to get McGrath breast care nurses into areas where they are needed, to help patients who would otherwise be unable to afford such care.
Everyone wears pink to the SCG on pink day to promote the cause. Everyone.
Like these pink Santas.
And this magnificent mulleted man.
And these sensationally cerise sombreros.
And these friendly fundraisers.
And these pink-peaked police.
And this perfect pink pair of people.
And those smoked salmon stumps!
And this fancy fuchsia flamingo.
And this bloke in the wondrous waistcoat.
And this fantastic fella.
And this delightfully dahlia duo.
And these two, who epitomise what the foundation is all about.
On Pink Test day, it is customary to drink lots of beer. OK, so it's customary to drink lots of beer whenever you go to the cricket. But even the beer snakes look pink when surrounded by a sea of pink shirts, which is pretty cool.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison used the day to announce $27 million towards the McGrath Foundation, which will pay for 41 additional nurses.
Good pink areas, PM.
Keep donating, Australia! We all know someone who has had to fight this awful disease.
