The Photo That Shows The Horrific Extent Of The On-Field Punch
Warning: Graphic Image
When West Coast mid-fielder Andrew Gaff punched Fremantle Dockers player Andrew Brayshaw, he fractured his jaw, split his lip and displaced four teeth that caved due to the impact.
Brayshaw, 18, has been ruled out of the remainder of the AFL season, has had to undergo surgery but the reality of just how bad the injury only became apparent to fans after this image of him surfaced.

The incident has been widely condemned by people on social media, particularly after it was suggested that the attack was "out of character" for the West Coast player.

There were questions raised as to why Gaff was allowed to remain on the ground after the punch and others have suggested that his actions should be punished at the same level as assault.
