Can Someone Please Help Find This Politician An Unlocked Door?

Knock, knock. Who's there? Simon Birmingham, stuck on the wrong side of the door.

The trade minister and acting treasurer has had a bit of trouble getting around these past few days, being snapped in a few embarrassing moments.

Following a press conference at the Commonwealth Parliament Offices in Sydney on Monday, Birmingham left the podium and attempted to open a door that wasn't there -- instead left feeling around the wooden panels of the wall. He eventually found the door, way at the back of the room.

Then on Tuesday, the South Australian senator tried to enter Parliament House through a locked door.

Sure, there's bigger issues on his plate, but the Internet has had some fun with the door difficulties.

While appearing on The Project to discuss the government's tax cut plans, Birmingham was asked about the door debacles.

"We have to ask the question, should Aussies have faith you're the man to deliver these tax cuts if you can't walk through a door?" Peter Helliar joked.

"Obviously, a few sliding doors moments that went a little wrong there," Birmingham replied, laughing.

I've just got to make sure I check the doors are unlocked in future, clearly.

Just in case he got lost in Channel 10's Canberra bureau ahead of the interview, our staff went ahead and made some minor adjustments to the office to make his visit run smoothly.
