Young Basketballer's Incredible Act Of Sportsmanship
A young boy has shown sportsmanship beyond his years, helping his friend and teammate score a basket during a local match.
A video posted to Twitter shows the kid taking a rebound and passing the ball to a much smaller boy before helping him take a shot.
The ball missed and another player took the shot, but after he too missed, the smaller boy was given a second chance.
With the help of his teammate, he made the shot, a shot that was met with wild screams from crowds lining the court.
The video -- captioned "No. 50 gets my vote for Sportsman of the Year --shows the ecstatic boy running straight to his coach for a high-five.
That's the tear-jerker:
The post has since gone viral, amassing more than 5.4million views, 201,000 likes and 53,000 retweets.
Many of those responding have praised the little legend that is No.50, for doing everything he could to ensure his teammate got on the scoreboard.
Not only does No. 50 make sure his buddy/teammate gets the bucket, I love how he hustles back on D, fades into background and lets No. 0 have his moment. He wants no spotlight.— Michael Blouse (@MichaelBlouse) March 16, 2019
Some kids just get it.... #50 is one of them— Scott Eggleston (@Spegg73) March 16, 2019
This brought tears to my eyes, for both boys— Ken Schneider (@ClevelandDad) March 16, 2019
But it seems this heartwarming moment isn't rare as we might think...
I am glad to say having coached elementary basketball that this happens every season across the country, kids helping others, especially in final games. Always makes me smile to watch these accomplishments— Ron/MLXFL Commish (@mlxfl) March 16, 2019
... proving there is plenty of good still left in the world.
Kudos to you No.50.
