SES Rescue Celebrity Dog Stuck In Wombat Hole For Two Days

Actress Zoe Naylor's dog, Loki, has been rescued after being trapped in a wombat hole for more than two days.

Naylor, who is best known for her roles in 'McLeod's Daughters' and 'Home and Away', had been searching for Loki for two days near Bilpin in the NSW Blue Mountains.

While searching through bushland her other dog, Charlie, lay in front of a wombat hole, and Naylor called emergency services after hearing whimpering from inside.

Volunteers from the SES and a police officer from Hawkesbury Command arrived to assess the situation.

An SES member climbed into the wombat hole armed with a torch but could not see Loki. It was discovered the wombat hole went underneath a sandstone shelf before turning left and descending.

Members of the Kurrajong Heights Rural Fire Brigade joined the rescue effort, and together dug another hole to intersect the wombat hole.

For three hours the rescuers dug underneath the sandstone shelf through rocks and roots before they reached Loki's hind legs.

Eventually Loki was able to wriggle free and emerged from the hole into the arms of his very relieved owner.
