Delivery Man Accused Of Groping Teen Found Not Guilty
A delivery man accused of groping a teenager’s breasts when she answered the door to accept a parcel has been found not guilty, but what the jury didn't know is that he's been accused of it before.
Dinakar Tayi burst into tears thanking the jury on Thursday.
The 45-year-old was accused of allegedly using his job to prey on a little girl. Her terrified triple zero call was played during his trial.
"Hi, there's like, um, a child perv or something. He was touching my boobs and I need police here right now," the girl told a police operator.
Operator: "Who was touching you?"
"Um, a postman. He had a parcel. He was touching my boobs," she responded.
The court heard that the 13-year-old was home alone, too sick to go to school, when the doorbell rang in December 2018.
Tayi was arrested days later but told police the incident was just a misunderstanding.
"I was holding the parcel. Like this, I was holding, right? So this hand touched here. She doesn't have any breast, or something frankly speaking and my intention was not at all that way," he claimed.
But 10 News First can now reveal that last year Tayi faced court for a similar incident.
A 30-year-old woman told police his hand brushed over her breast when he delivered a parcel to her back in 2017.
Late last year he was found not guilty of that after a hearing at Mount Druitt court.
On Thursday a jury was sure Tayi was innocent, taking a little under two hours to clear him of the alleged charges.
The young girl’s dad was in court to hear the verdict, cursing under his breath as the jury foreman said the words not guilty, he left court bitterly disappointed.
