Teenager Charged With Murder After Stepmum Stabbed At Sydney Home
A 16-year-old boy has been charged with murder after he allegedly stabbed his stepmother at a home in Sydney's south.
Emergency services arrived at a home in Kingsway, Woolooware at 1.30am on Wednesday following reports of a stabbing.
A 42-year-old woman was taken to St George Hospital with multiple stab wounds to her back, where she later died.
10 daily understands the two had been living together and that the teenager was the woman's stepson.
"It's very early in the investigation. Police are trying to establish all the circumstances and provide them to the coroner," Steve Worthington, acting superintendent of Sutherland Shire Police Area Command, told reporters on Wednesday.
"All incidents where a fatality takes place are upsetting for the community," Worthington said.
The 16-year-old male was arrested at the scene and taken to Sutherland Police Station.
He was later charged with murder, and was refused bail to appear in court later on Wednesday.
A crime scene has been established and the investigation into the woman’s death is ongoing.
