Woman Charged After Nursing Home Resident Allegedly Tied To Chair

A nursing assistant in Sydney's south-east has been charged with assault after a nursing home resident was allegedly tied to a chair in the shower.

Officers were called to the Eastern Beaches nursing home on Tuesday morning after the 73-year-old resident reported the alleged incident.

The woman alleged a plastic bag had been used to tie her left leg to a chair while she was being showered on Monday, causing her severe bruising and pain, police said.

Officers arrested a nursing assistant at the home on Tuesday afternoon, before charging the woman with assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

The woman, 67, was granted conditional bail to appear in court on January 9.

She was also stood down by her employer and an apprehended violence order has been taken out on the 73-year-old resident's behalf, police said.
