Multi-Millionaire Charged With Child Porn Possession As He Tries To Flee Australia

Multi-billionaire businessman Sir Ron Brierley has been charged with a string of child pornography offences.

The 82-year-old investor was arrested at Sydney Airport on Tuesday after being stopped by Australian Border Force officials while en route to Fiji.

Brierley, who was admitted as a Knight in 1988, is one of New Zealand's most successful businessmen and was a former trustee if the Sydney Cricket Ground trust the Daily Telegraph reports.

Police said on Wednesday morning that their investigation into Brierley started in August.

His carry-on luggage was searched at the aiport on Tuesday and police allege they found pornographic images on his laptop and other electronic devices.

Brierley was taken to Mascot Police station where he was charged with six counts of possess child abuse material.

He was granted strict conditional bail and will appear at Downing Centre Local Court on Monday February, 10 2020.
