Eight Teens Charged After Police Car Rammed During Late-Night Joyride

A group of teenagers have been charged after shocking police footage showed allegedly stolen vehicles flying through the streets of a Queensland city.

The drama began about 9pm Monday when police received numerous calls about two vehicles driving around Townsville.

Nail-biting dashcam footage shows the two vehicles as they dodge police by driving off-road, around trees and other obstacles.

Police eventually managed to spike the tyres of one of the vehicles involved, a large ute.

Footage shows the ute ram a police car before it was cornered in a suburban street.

Eight teenagers are facing charges following the incident.

Three 14-year-old boys, a 14-year-old girl, 17-year-old girl, 17-year-old boy and 12-year-old girl, have been charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

A 16-year-old boy, who was allegedly driving the ute, has been charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, evasion offences, wilful damage of police property and driving without a licence.
