Man Who Rode Two Kilometres On Lawnmower Charged With Drink Driving
A man has been nabbed drink driving on a lawnmower in Sydney's west.
Police were conducting random breath tests on Ettalong Road in Greystanes on Tuesday night when they spotted an orange ride-on lawnmower slowly making its way along a nearby footpath.
The driver, 34, allegedly told the officers he'd ridden the garden tool all the way from Pendle Hill, about two kilometres away. The man said he was taking it to a friend's house.
The mower had no registration to drive on a roadway, and subsequently, wasn't allowed to be driven in this way.
The driver was given a roadside breath test, which returned a positive reading. He was taken back to Granville Police State where he allegedly blew 0.167, NSW Police said in a statement.
Further checks revealed his driver's licence had expired seven years ago. It had also been disqualified until 2021 due to a number of previous traffic convictions.
The man was slapped with a number of fines.
He's due to front court on December 17.
