Truck Driver Charged After Young Boy Killed In Car Pile-Up
A truck driver has been charged after a 10-year-old boy was killed in a pile-up on the M5 in Sydney.
The accident, involving the truck and three cars, occurred just east of Belmore Road in Riverwood before 8:20am on Wednesday.
The boy, who was a passenger in one of the cars, died at the scene. A 13-year-old girl in the car suffered rib fractures and head injuries. She is in Sydney Children's Hospital in a stable condition. The driver of the car, a 31-year-old woman, suffered minor injuries and underwent mandatory testing.
The drivers of the other two cars, two women aged 35 and 26, were taken to hospital for mandatory testing and treatment. The older of the two had a fractured wrist and the other minor injuries.
The 26-year-old truck driver has been charged with dangerous driving occasioning death among other charges. He was refused bail and will appear in Bankstown Local Court on Thursday.
