Man Charged With Attempted Murder After Woman Shot In Head

A man accused of shooting a woman in the head and attacking her husband with a hammer has been charged with attempted murder.

Police say the man, aged 47, allegedly launched the attack on the 40-year-old woman in Rangewood, Townsville on Wednesday morning. The man allegedly shot the woman in the head. She managed to crawl under a nearby car to shelter herself from her attacker.

The woman's husband, 53, was attacked when he came to her aid. The suspect allegedly hit him with a hammer. A tradesman who attempted to help the woman was also injured in the alleged incident.

Police say the alleged attacker claimed the pair owe him money over a failed business venture.

He was charged with attempted murder.



Woman Shot In Head, Multiple People Injured In Townsville Shooting

A man is in custody after reportedly being involved in a shooting incident in north Queensland.

The 47 year old is also facing a number of other charges related to the incident, including acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm, assault occasioning bodily harm while armed with a dangerous weapon and possession of an unregistered firearm.

The accused will face Townsville Magistrates Court on Thursday.
