Police Release Images Of Man Wanted After Stabbing Rampage
NSW Police have released photos of a man they believe was involved in a stabbing at a construction site that left one man dead and another injured.
Albert Metlege, the 76-year-old manager of the site, was found dead at a worksite in St Peters in Sydney's inner west. Despite the urgent work of paramedics, he could not be revived.
His son Antony, 33, was treated at the scene after being found with stab wounds. He was taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in a critical condition, where he was taken into surgery to treat his injuries.
Police told media on Thursday they are still searching for a 49-year-old construction worker who allegedly fled the scene after the stabbing attack. The man is believed to have been driven to Rockdale following the incident where he was last seen.
He has been on the run ever since. Vladimir Kondakov is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 180cm tall, with a large build and a shaved head. He speaks with a Russian accent.
The three men involved were known to each other. It's believed the incident occurred due to a disagreement at the worksite, however, police are unable to confirm the exact circumstances surrounding the alleged knifing.
"Our investigators are finding out what the disagreement was. What the motive was, we don't know," Inspector Chad Deegenaars told reporters on Wednesday.
"It doesn't appear to be a random attack."
Police are appealing for the man in the photos to contact them immediately.
Members of the public have been urged not to approach the 49-year-old if he is seen and to instead call triple zero.
