Man And 13-Year-Old Girl Charged Over Alleged Assault Of Police Officer
A man and a 13-year-old girl have been charged over the assault of a man and an off-duty police officer on a Sydney bus.
Two men and a teenage girl boarded the bus on Saturday afternoon in Drummoyne where after a short time one of the men allegedly assaulted a 67-year-old passenger, police say.
When the bus stopped and the man was asked to get off -- by both the driver and an off-duty policeman -- he is alleged to have then turned on the officer, physically assaulting him.
As the assault continued, police say another man and the teenage girl joined in, kicking and punching the senior constable, who was left with facial cuts and swelling. The trio fled on foot.
A 40-year-old man and 13-year-old girl were arrested in Gladesville later on Saturday after a search that involved PolAir and the dog unit.
The pair face a string of charges including assaulting an officer in execution of duty and were granted conditional bail to appear in court on Monday.
A search continues for the third man involved in the assault.
