Man Armed With Knife Shot Outside North Queensland Police Station
An armed man has been shot at a police station in Bowen, North Queensland.
The 35-year-old man was shot by police at about 2:30pm Wednesday, after allegedly breaking into the rear doors of the Bowen Police station.
Police say the man was armed with a bladed weapon and a chain.
The man was shot in his hand and abdomen. Police then administered first aid to the man until paramedics arrived.
He was taken to Bowen Hospital in a serious condition, before being airlifted to Townsville Hospital later in the afternoon.
Bowen is a town located between Mackay and Townsville.
Queensland Police have said no officers were physically injured in the incident.
The Ethical Standard Command is investigating the incident.
