CCTV Captures Brazen Thieves Getting Away With Two Boats

A group of thieves have been caught on camera driving away with two boats after an early morning robbery in Melbourne's east.

Victoria Police said between three to five people broke into a boating business on Canterbury Road in Vermont at around 5 am on Saturday.

The group got away with the two vessels and their trailers after attaching them to two vehicles.

Investigators have now released security vision of the bold getaway and photos of the two stolen boats, hoping that someone will recognise them.

The footage shows at least three people struggling to get one of the boats out of the yard's driveway without hitting the fence.

The driver inside the getaway car appears to have to reverse and maneouvre the vehicle multiple times, as two others help the driver from outside.

Eventually, the pair get into the car before the driver takes off on what appears to be the wrong side of the road.

Another video released by police shows the second boat being driven out of a driveway by a vehicle.

One of the boats is described as a white and light blue Malibu registered R0570, on a trailer registered Z19075. The second is a white and dark blue Malibu registered R0570, on a trailer registered W2111.

The group were believed to be driving a dark coloured Nissan Patrol Utility and a black SUV, police said.

Anyone who may have seen the group on Canterbury Road or anyone with information on the incident is being urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
